Our practice

One of the oldest in the city, our practice was founded by former Mr Townsend and his wife in 1954 after he graduated from Edinburgh Dental School.

Townsend is an established family-orientated dental practice in Edinburgh. We focus on preventative dental treatments and provide dental and oral health care to our local community. Generations of families have been visiting Townsend for years.

Located in Leith, we pride ourselves on our professional approach and friendly atmosphere. Our team is dedicated to making sure you understand what is happening before, during and after your dental treatments to ensure you feel comfortable and well-informed at all times. We work together to keep your teeth and gums healthy and strong.

Our multilingual team is fluent in English, Spanish and Italian. We also have access to certified translators so you and your family can always be sure of a warm welcome to our practice.

Since January 2019, the practice has been under new management, with Margarita Monque-Venturoli rejoining us as Principal Dentist as she takes over from Kirsten Townsend.

Contact us to ask us about how we can help!

As you may be aware, the council has placed parking restrictions in most of Leith including some of the side streets close to our dental practice.

Permit holders and metered parking will be enforced from Monday 26th June 2023.

If you are travelling by car, you will need to park in one of the metered parking bays or park further away from the practice.

The streets that may be available to park on are South Fort St, Pitt St, The Dudley’s, Summerside St or Summerside Pl.

Please give yourself more time when travelling to the practice.

Appointments

Patients registered with us are entitled to 2 free dental examinations each year and to access out of hours emergency treatment. An appointment system is in operation, letting patients be attended to as quickly and efficiently as possible. However, absolute Emergencies shall take precedence. We try our best to ensure that each patient is seen by one Dentist on a continuing basis.
